Certification - third-party attestation related to products, processes, systems or persons (p. 5.5 ISO/IEC 17000:2004).

Note: 1. Certification of management system is sometimes also called registration.

2. Certification is applicable to all objects of conformity assessment except for conformity assessment bodies themselves, to which «accreditation» term is applicable.
